Check This Out: Fire Department's Ice Rescue Training

Thanks to the Lynnfield Fire Department for providing some photos from a training exercise held over the weekend at Pillings Pond.

Over the weekend, a reader noted that the Lynnfield Fire Department had been out at Pillings Pond Saturday morning with some equipment. A quick email to the Chief Joseph Lingel found that nobody was ever in any danger - it turned out that department members were doing an ice rescue drill.

According to Chief Lingel, personnel use equipment such as an inflatable boat, an ice rescue sled, ice rescue suits and the fire department tower to simulate the rescue of a person who's fallen through the ice. Training on this equipment reportedly takes place each year.
