A 25-year-old Lynnfield man was arrested this weekend after an incident that began when a cab driver called town police to report that a fare had gone inside a Yorkshire Drive home without paying.

Alexander K. Muse of 3 Yorkshire Drive, Lynnfield, with assault and battery on a police officer after Officer Sean Kilroy responded to the cab driver's call and spoke with the suspect's father.

The young man allegedly broke free and threw a small bag of trash at the officer, striking him on the shoulder and resulting in the officer getting a twisted ankle from trying to avoid the bag.

The father again reportedly tried to restrain the suspect, who broke free and attempted to run into the house after being informed he would be arrested. The report described the subject as "highly intoxicated," but also stated that he apologized for the incident several times after being taken into custody.
