Peter's Organic Garden Blog-Number 1

Peter's Organic Garden Blog chronicles the experiences of an organic gardener . He also will dispense gardening advice and will answer your gardening questions.

My name is Peter Scantalides and I live at 450 Chestnut Street in Lynnfield near the Cedar Swamp. I have a large garden where I grow vegetables from seed. I am an organic gardener and have been one for over 25 years. I focus on growing  heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, squash, and garlic as well as other vegetables and herbs. I will be writing this blog on my experiences as a gardener and will be willing to answer your questions about gardening.

I have lived in Lynnfield since 1994 when my wife( who was born and raised in Lynnfield) and I moved to Lynnfield from Newton. I am not the first person to have a large garden on this plot. We bought this property from Tom and Annah Ganley.  Tom Ganley was Lynnfield’s police chief for many years but his great love was gardening. He had a large operation where he grew vegetables, including corn, geraniums, and strawberries. He called his large garden “weekinduitt”. I thus am not the first gardener to cultivate this plot.

My family and friends have encouraged me for years to sell my produce particularly my tomatoes, since they claim they are the best they have tasted.

I have decided this year to offer my tomatoes and other vegetables for sale.

I have 39 tomato plants going and they are producing a good crop. I expect to have tomatoes for sale August 15 or so.

In addition I recently harvested over 200 heads of garlic which are available for sale. I have California Garlic, Russian Red and Georgian Crystal garlic.
