Five Things You Need To Know Today: February 23

Busy day at the library, from kids' events to award for longtime trustee.

Today is Wednesday, February 23. Here are five things you need to know:

School Vacation Activities: The will be hosting a Polar Bear Pajama Party today for the kids at 6:30 p.m. in recognition of World Polar Bear Day. At 2 p.m., the week's school vacation activities continue with a tree-themed story time focusing on fruit trees.

Longtime Trustee To Be Honored: Speaking of the library, trustee E. Seavey Bowdoin will be honored with the Elaine R. Melisi Outstanding Trustee of the Year award from the state's Library Trustees Association. Library trustees and other officials will be with Bowdoin tonight at the Old Meeting House starting at 7 p.m.

Hockey Tomorrow Night: On the high school sports front, it's late in the winter season, but there's still a few games left to be played. For example, the varsity hockey team plays North Reading at 7 p.m. at the Peabody Ice Rink tomorrow – Wednesday night.

Hunger Awareness Breakfast Next Month: Looking ahead, local nonprofit group is holding a Hunger Awareness Breakfast on Saturday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Thomson Country Club in North Reading. For more information, call 617-548-5357 or go to gatheringchangeinc.org.

Busy Day at Senior Center: Also today in Lynnfield, numerous activities are being held at the on Wednesday. Some examples include yoga at 10 a.m., Ballroom dance lessons at 12:30 p.m. and Mah Jong at 12:30 p.m.
