Obituary: Carl Arthur Wold, 69

Longtime town resident owned Karen's Bakery with wife Dottie and was a past president of the Lynnfield Rotary Club.

Carl Arthur Wold Jr. , age 69, of Methuen, formerly of Lynnfield, died unexpectedly at home on April 20, 2013. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Dorothy (Dyson) Wold, with whom he had shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Waltham, MA and raised in Stoneham, he was the son of the late C. Arthur and E. Louise (Martin) Wold. Carl was a graduate of Stoneham High School in the class of 1962 and the Andover School of Business.
He and his family lived in Lynnfield for many years. He, along with his wife Dottie, owned and operated Karen’s Bakery in Lynnfield for over forty years. Karen’s Bakery was well known for many items, including cinnamon monkey bread and oatmeal bread.

Carl had been a member and past president of the Lynnfield Rotary Club and District Governor of Rotary International representing District 7390 from 1991-1992. He belonged to the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics Association, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and Aleppo Shrine. He was a member and head of the Lynnfield Zetland Masonic Lodge, the Waverly Chapter in Melrose, the Melrose Council and the Metro North Commandery. He was also an officer in the Grand Council of Massachusetts and in the Grand Commandery for Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Survived by his daughters, Carleen Amasya and her husband Sid of Cornelius, NC and Lori Thayer and her husband Trevor of Kittery, ME.

He was the brother of Marjorie Ellsworth and her husband John of Fairfax, VT, Karen Stetson and her husband Ralph of Westford, VT and Rick Wold of St. Johnsbury, VT. Also survived by five grandchildren, Craig, Jill and Kayla Amasya, Caitlin and Megan Thayer.

Visiting hours will be at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, on Thursday, May 2nd , from 4-8 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 6:30P.M. A graveside service will be held in Forest Hills Cemetery, Lynnfield on Friday, May 3rd at 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aleppo Shrine (www.alepposhriners.com), 99 Fordham Rd., Wilmington, MA 01887 or the Knights Templar Educational Foundation, 186 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02111.
