Lynnfield again earns Tree City USA designation. Observation to occur during Geraniumfest celebration on Town Common, May 19.

The following is an announcement from the Lynnfield Tree Committee:

The Town of Lynnfield will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday May 19 during the Geraniumfest at 11 a.m. on the Town Common.  The public is invited to join members of the Board of Selectmen and the Lynnfield Tree Committee in a celebration of Arbor Day which will include a reading of the Arbor Day proclamation and the raising of a flag in recognition of Lynnfield as a Tree City USA. Lynnfield has again been given this award in recognition for providing vital care for its trees and for making planting and caring for trees a top priority.

At Geraniumfest participate in Lynnfield’s Leafy Discovery Challenge which highlights the benefits of trees. From 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. enter to win one of three trees donated by Townscape for this contest.  Get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a public shade tree on your property in a contest sponsored by the Town Tree Warden. Stop by the Tree Committee’s booth for information about both contests, handouts, and professional advice from licensed arborist Ben Dugdale of SavATree. The Tree Committee, a subcommittee of the Lynnfield Conservation Commission, is proud to sponsor the Leafy Discovery Challenge and booth as part of its mission to educate and inspire the community to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.
