Residents Can Capture A Day In The Life Of The Lynnfield Library

On April 12, Libraries across America, including the one in Lynnfield, will participate in "Library Snapshot Day."

In a couple of weeks, town residents with an interest in photography will have the opportunity to participate in a nationwide event that captures a day in the life of libraries across America - including the one in Lynnfield.

Library Snapshot Day falls on April 12th. In a recent conversation with Lynnfield Patch, Lynnfield Library Director Nancy Ryan reported that in 2010, the American Library Association adopted it as a nationwide event. Before that, it was a state event in New Jersey.

Basically, library patrons are invited to bring their cameras with them on the 12th and take a few pictures. From there, the images can all be posted on a Flickr page. Images can be candid shots of friends and family members, or even just some of the objects and decorations that can be found in the building.

"It's a way for libraries of all kinds to let people know what a day in the life of a public library is like," said Ryan.

However, this is just one part of the day in the life of a library. Participating libraries in Massachusetts are also being asked to share data on the number of patrons served that day, as well as other details such as an average day's circulation.
