Lynnfielder Working To Help Homeless Teens

Residents can help support Journeys Of Hope this Monday, June 4 by dining at the Ninety-Nine on Salem Street, 15% of meal tab goes to organization.

The following is an announcement from Journeys Of Hope:

Local Lynnfield resident and retired Lynn Public Schools educator, is rallying support for homeless teens through her work with the North Shore non-profit, Journeys of Hope. A founding member of the non-profit Campbell has organized community drives and benefit events for the agency as a way to provide much needed support for North Shore young adults who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness.

“It’s critical for us to provide support and resources to help these young adults move out of homelessness towards stable and healthy adulthood,” notes Campbell. “As a long time educator I understand the importance of providing a welcoming and supportive environment where these young adults can receive support for a wide range of needs including housing, health care, education, job readiness and legal assistance. All of these elements are important in helping them build skills and an understanding of how to move forward in their lives.”

Journeys of Hope, which operates a day program in Salem and provides community outreach to North Shore communities, recently completed its second program year having served over 200 clients with over 1,300 client visits and outreach sessions. Moving forward, the agency is seeking community support to expand its capacity to serve even more young adults on the North Shore.

Campbell asks local residents to join in support of homeless youth on Monday, June 4 for “Dining for A Cause” at the Ninety-Nine Restaurant at 317 Salem Street in Lynnfield. The Ninety-Nine Restaurant will donate 15% of JOH guests dining proceeds to support the Journeys of Hope day program. Both dine-in and take-out orders will be included in the benefit event. A special voucher is available online at http://www.johma.org/events.

Campbell also invites community members to support Journeys of Hope by:
•     Hosting a clothing drive to collect gently used jackets, boots and backpacks
•     Donating small denomination gifts cards for clients to purchase personal care items, food/meals or other basic needs
•     Sharing your time as a volunteer at Journeys of Hope
