Adopt Pumpkin, a Cute Beagle-Dachshund Mix

Pumpkin, a cute beagle-dachshund mix, wants to cuddle with you.

I think I am going to like you. Ok, that is easy, because I like everyone.  And once I have met you, I will get very excited to see you again.  Let's simplify this whole process.  Adopt me and then I will get to see you all the time.

I do have a few requirements.  I love to have my belly rubbed.  So you will need to do that when I roll over for you, which will be all the time.  I do have some tricks you might like:  I can sit, lie down and offer my paw on command.  I am also excellent on a leash and I love to go for walks.  I bet I could learn some new tricks, too.  That would be a fun thing for us to do together.

Ah, being with my own human is what I dream about.  Recently, I got to go home for the weekend with one of the volunteers.  I am told I was quite well behaved, even if I did beg a bit during meals.  However, when I was not offered all that really good smelling people food, I gave up and decided to lie down on a big fluffy blanket.  So, despite a few inner doggie desires, I can be a good dog when I need to be. For example, I was great at greeting everyone who came to visit.

The highlight of the weekend for me was that I got to sleep on the bed! I played it smart too, because I started the night at the bottom of the bed.  As the evening went on, however, I slowly wiggled my way up until I was snuggled on the pillow by morning. I am quite the cuddle bug and no place is better for that then the bed.  Well, I feel that way.  If you felt differently, I think we could negotiate. I will start by telling you that in fact I am not that big, so I don't really take up much room.

Speaking of size, you may notice I am just a bit overweight.  I am working on this with lots of exercise and good food.  I expect to be fit and trim in no time at all, which is great for me since, at two-years-old, I plan to have a long, healthy life with my next family.

So that’s the scoop on me: Pumpkin. I am sweet, loving, and cuddly, with good manners—most of the time. I will stick by you because, honestly, humans are a dog’s best friend.  Better than other dogs, sometimes. I don't like commotions, so a nice quiet home would suit me best.  Does this sound good?  If so, please call.  I really want my belly rubbed and you might just be the perfect one to do it.
