A Long-Forgotten, Idyllic Day At Robin Rock

This is a perfect "Then And Now" feature to run during the Dog Days of Summer. And again, it's such a wonderfully old picture of a moment in time in town that few, if any, people can now remember. You can almost hear tinny "Little Rascals" style music playing off in the distance somewhere.

Off in the distance, the town of Lynnfield looks more like the backdrop for the Great American Painting or something. All that's missing is somebody standing there reading "Ozymandias" out loud. I also can't believe that not a single dog is present in this photo.

So where is Robin Rock? It's the name of the site that a little later in Lynnfield's history became the Kallenberg Quarry. So the people in this photo may have enjoyed their outing to the rock sometime soon before the dawn of the 20th Century.

I'll also note that this photo decades ago was marked "Robbin Rock," so I'm not sure if there's been a spelling change over the years. Every other online reference to the place spelled it "Robin."
