LMS “Food for Everyone” Food Drive a Success

For 5 consecutive years the Lynnfield Middle School has hosted a successful food drive for Haven from Hunger via Gathering Change, Inc..

Once again, the Lynnfield Middle School teamed up with Gathering Change, Inc. to collect imperishable food items February 25 through March 18.  GCI is a local nonprofit that collects food and money for neighborhood food pantries. Gathering Change, Inc. delivered Certificates of Appreciation to the Lynnfield Middle School on Friday, March 22 as a thank you for the school’s commitment to feeding their neighbors in need; this was their 5th Annual "Food for Everyone" food drive.  The 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes combined collected over 1,100 lbs. of food to support the 400 clients who visit the Haven from Hunger in Peabody each week, a food pantry that supports residents who live in Lynnfield, Peabody and Salem.  The Feinstein Foundation (www.feinsteinfoundation.org) will also be matching a percentage of the pounds of food collected.  For more information about GCI, please see www.gatheringchangeinc.org or write to GCI at info@gatheringchangeinc.org.  Thank you LMS!

Mrs. DaCorta's 5th grade class and Ms. Cacciapuoti's 6th grade class tied for the most food brought in for the drive and will receive a pizza party as recognition for their efforts.
