Lynnfield-Themed Ornaments Raising Money For Scholarships

Lynnfield Business Coalition sold ornaments in 2011, recently found some additional ones that are now available at Baubles Jewelry.

Back in 2011, the Lynnfield Business Coalition sold a number of town-themed Christmas tree ornaments to help raise money for local scholarships.

Now, town residents once again have the chance to support local students by purchasing an ornament, thanks to the recent discovery of a box of them that were left over from the previous fundraising drive.

One ornament depicts the Old Meeting House, which marks its 300th anniversary in 2014. The other one shows the bell on the Town Common, made in 1859 in Sheffield, England, purchased for $100 and transported to Lynnfield by the former Gerry Cider Mill. It was moved to the common in 1960 after hanging in the Meeting House as a fire department bell since 1919.

In a recent conversation with Lynnfield Patch, Rich Mazzola of the Lynnfield Business Coalition reported that one ornament costs $25, while people can get one of each for just $40. Only 40 of each ornament were found, and they are available at Baubles Jewelry in Post Office Square.

"The profits all go to the scholarship programs that the LBC sponsors for the graduating seniors, the Shadowing Program for the Juniors in May and for the support for the Candidates Night in the spring," explained Mazzola in a followup email.
