Where to Help Prepare Thanksgiving Meals Locally

Here are some ways to volunteer locally.

If you're looking for a good place to volunteer in the area to help prepare Thanksgiving meals, try Haven from Hunger.

Executive Director Alyse Barbash says she has enough volunteers already to serve meals at the pantry on Thanksgiving Day, but the Haven does prepare hundreds of turkey dinners that clients pick up or are delivered that week.

Dinner is also regularly served Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 5 p.m. and volunteers are always welcome to cook and/or serve a meal.

"We welcome all kinds of help, please call us," Barbash says. If you'd like to volunteer, call the pantry with the days and times you are available. The number is 978-531-1530.

One other way, you can help out the Haven this week, is by dressing down for the day on Friday. The food pantry is asking local employers to offer their employees an option to dress down for a suggested donation of $5 to $10 that goes to the Haven. Check the website for more details.
