Then And Now: Before The Middle School

Each week, Lynnfield Patch runs a photo from the files of the Lynnfield Historical Society and talks about what's there today.

This week, we've got an image from the days before Lynnfield Middle School occupied its present spot on Main Street - it was the former home of the School Administration Office.

Each week, these photos are provided by the Lynnfield Historical Society. Are you interested in joining them? Just send a $15 check to Bob Gillon, Lynnfield Historical Society Treasurer, 300 Main Street, Lynnfield, MA 01940. Include your mailing address, email address and phone number.

Yes, the old Wilkins home. One of the almost founding families of Lynnfield. It does appear that an addition has been added to the left side when it became the Lynnfield school district office. I would be very interested to know if anyone has a picture or information on the old home that sat on the property 200 feet to the right of this picture, at 505 Main Street. It was torn down in 1951 to make room for the first Lynnfield High School. The property was owned by Walter H Perry. It was being leased to Harry and Dorothy Jackson. Harry was a selectman in town.
