Popular watering holes within a short drive.

, Lynnfield: The largest sports bar in the Lynnfield area reports that it does not have any specific St. Patrick's Day specials this year, but with 100 video games and other entertainment options for all ages, who needs them? Besides, the Bruins are playing better than they have in years, if not decades, and they'll be on some of the Grille's many wide-screen TV sets.

Also, for those who prefer margaritas to glasses of Guinness on St. Patrick's Day, the on Route 1 is another popular Lynnfield option. Jeff Frasier will be providing live entertainment there starting at 8:30 p.m.

Grumpy Doyle’s – Reading: Reading’s newest pub - and only Irish-themed restaurant - will have a selection of celebratory offerings tonight and through the weekend. Tonight - and only tonight - the restaurant will offer a special traditional Irish menu, and band Sligo Road will accompany your traditional Irish dinner with traditional Irish music. If you can’t go out on a Thursday night, Grumpy Doyle’s will have cover band Ruben Kincade on Friday and Irish band on Sunday.

- Wakefield: This traditional Irish Pub will be going all out for its St. Patrick's Day celebration. Starting at 11:30 a.m., the restaurant will be serving a corned beef and cabbage special for $9.95. Harrington's will also have live music all day and night from three different performers on both the upper and level lowers of the restaurant, and they'll be serving green beer on tap.

- Wakefield: Although more of a sports bar than an Irish Pub, the Dockside Restaurant will be serving a special of corned beef and cabbage not just on St. Patrick's Day, but throughout the following weekend. With 30 different types of draught and bottled beer, if a sit-down Irish meal is what you're looking for, you can find it at Dockside.
