Nathan Likes To Dream Big

Two Year Old Nathan is Gentle and Loving.

Hey, you out there on the other side of the PetSmart window.  Stop tapping on the glass and go ask to meet me.  And don’t get distracted.  Everyone seems to get distracted by the other cats that are pushier and assert themselves around adopters.  If that is what you want, stop looking at me.  I am not like that.  I am just a very sweet and quiet young guy.  I never make trouble and I get along with everyone.  And, well, sometimes, I think I am just too nice.  I get lost in the crowd and overlooked.

I may be kind of sweet and quiet, but I need to tell you, I am a cat with an imagination.  While I nap in my condo, I dream big things.  I dream of a wonderful home with people who shower me with affection.  They love me and accept me for who I am.  And they give me a treat or two from time to time on top of my regular meals (but not too often, as I do not want to get chubby).

I also dream about catching a bird.  They have a funny little toy here that is a bunch of feathers on the end of string.  I think they call it DaBird.  Anyway, I know it is just a silly toy, but it is definitely my favorite inspiration for dreaming.  When I squint, I see an eagle that I am hunting in the grass—me, a huge tiger in India.  I imagine that I will do battle with the bird and I will win because I am the biggest and strongest.  Hey, it doesn’t hurt to have dreams.  When I chase the toy and play with you I am no longer the mild-mannered Nathan, but Nathan, king of the jungle—a real wildcat.

Of course, I never actually act that way.  Maybe if I did, someone would notice me.  Like you.  You look nice and friendly, the kind of person who could love me.  We could dream together, if you’d like.  And I could sleep at the foot of your bed every night.  I promise not to wake you.  Like I said, I am a quiet guy.  I don’t make trouble. But I do like a warm bed.

Other things you should know about me is that I am young, only two years old.  And I am fine with other cats.  I am also fine with kids or adults, or a couple, or a single person.  I just want love and affection and a place to live out my dreams, real and imagined.

So, don’t delay any more and come to the adoption center at PetSmart in Danvers and meet me.  Adoption hours are every Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.  Just ask for Nathan.  And do not get distracted by those other cats.  I mean, they are nice, but they are so pushy.  Take me, the nice quiet one.  We were made for each other, you and I, because we are both dreamers.  I can see that in your eyes.  You are already imagining our new life together.
