Marlie and Sadie Are All About Love and Comfort

Hi, my name is Marlie and I’m trying to find a perfect home for myself and my beloved sister, Sadie the calico.  I have to say, my dear sister has been crying her eyes out lately. She is very sad because, due to some very unfortunate timing, we could be the only PAWS Pet of the Week cats EVER (did I say EVER?) to get not one phone call after our story was published.  Sadie keeps asking me, “How can that be?”  So, I’ve tried to explain that the week when our story was featured was not the best one for us.  It was right after that terrible marathon tragedy and during the culminating events in Watertown.  “Sadie,” I keep telling her, “We are special.  It is just that the tragedy affected everyone so much that they were way too sad to think or read about anything else.

“Sad and upset?” asks Sadie.  “But, I can make someone less sad with my huge purr — and so can you! Let’s tell our story again and remind everyone that in stressful times, nothing beats a pair of wonderful cats like us.”  Why Sadie, that is a great idea!  So, here we go again.  This time, please call because we would love to be part of your family, through the good times and the bad. 

Like I said, my name is Marlie and I am the beautiful tortie you see in the pictures.  Yes, I know I am beautiful, but don’t tell my sister.  Her name is Sadie and, although she is beautiful, too, you know how sisters can be.  I think, sometimes, she gets jealous.  Of course, there is never so much as a hiss or twitchy tail between us.  We are a very loving pair of young, bonded siblings who have been together since birth. 

We may be littermates, but we do have our own personalities.  So, let me tell you more, starting with me, of course.  I am the social butterfly in this family.  I love to be around people and will come running when you call me and follow you around, just like a puppy dog.   And, I’m so fascinated by water that I am likely to want to jump in with the bathtub with you or your kids.  Well, ok, I am exaggerating.  But I would hang out with you in the bathroom and enjoy the splashing because it looks like fun and I like to be where the action is. 

If you tend to have a busy household with children, grandchildren and/or adult visitors, I’m good with that.  I am not one to hide when I can be making new friends.  I especially enjoy having someone to play with, but I can also entertain myself with toys or anything I may find around the house that is interesting.  So, be careful to put away things you don’t want me to play with (like rubber bands or your favorite earrings).  I will make a toy of anything and I really mean anything.  I also should mention that I adore potato chips!  I am not sure they are good for me, but I really love them. So if you have friends over and put them out, I might be dipping in too (although I do not dip in salsa, I take my chips straight up, thank you very much)!

My favorite position is stretched out so you can rub my belly.  I enjoy sleeping in bed with my humans, but I’m not so keen on sitting on laps.  If a lap cat is your dream, Sadie is your girl.

My sister, Sadie, cannot resist the lap of someone she knows.  She may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she will want to hang out and cuddle on your lap.  And she has an absolutely HUGE purr.  Wow, I love to hear it because it makes me feel relaxed and happy.  I bet you will feel the same way. 

Pretty Sadie may not be as svelte as I am, but that just means there is more of her to love.  She really is quite sweet.  When it comes to kids, she likes them as much as I do.  We used to live in a house with two children.   When the first baby came home, Sadie just stayed right by her all the time.  Our people used to call her Mama Sadie because of the way she watched over the baby.  Unfortunately, it turns out that the newest addition is so very allergic that our family had to give us up. 

I have to say that Sadie and I miss our original family.  We loved everyone and everything.  Boy, it was tough watching the new little one wheeze and cough and sniffle because of us.  So we packed up our bags, said our tearful goodbyes, and went to a PAWS foster home.  It is very nice here, except for the no potato chip rule.  Or, maybe what’s missing is that that this is just not our home. 

We are only five years old and are looking for a new family to love for the next ten to fifteen years, or so.  We want our own people again and, of course, we promise to love you and to take really, really good care of you.  After all, we are a pair who knows the value of family.  And we want to add you to our family as soon as possible. 

So now that we are all trying to move forward from the resent tragedies, please consider adopting some new friends, like us.  We can comfort each other and, together, build a long-term relationship with the happy ending we all deserve.
