Less Than Ten Shopping Days Left...

Here's some local notes as we prepare for the final full weekend of the 2011 holiday shopping season

With the shopping season winding down rapidly, here’s some notes from around town to help get some of those final things off your checklist:

Dessert Orders: Between now and Monday, Dec. 19, you can order desserts from Christine’s Café and Confections in Post Office Square. Owner Christine Picciarello, a former pastry chef, is offering the following desserts: apple pie, blueberry pie, ricotta pie, croissant bread pudding, chocolate truffle torte, assorted miniature pastry and cookie platters with butter cookies decorated for either Christmas or Hanukkah, and quiches and scones to enjoy on Christmas morning.

Evergreens: If you’re still looking for Christmas trees, wreaths and other such items, Lynnfield entrepreneur George Tsakirgis recently said on Twitter that he is  selling them at 782 Salem Street in Lynnfield – and that you get $5 off if you mention the Tweet.  .

Center Of The World? This interesting last-minute gift idea turned up this week – although good luck getting it delivered on time at this point.  The website Zazzle.com has a surprisingly wide range of products, from iPhone cases and skateboards to t-shirts and mugs – all of which can  be made with a computer-enhanced map of the world showing your town – Lynnfield – as the center of the world.

Traffic Widget: Traffic is likely to be heavier than usual around Lynnfield’s highways in the coming days as area residents make their ways to the nearby malls. With that in mind, check out the new traffic and gas tab at the top of the Lynnfield Patch home page. You can find real-time traffic conditions as well as some information about area gas prices there any time of the day.

Brunch Time: Finally, if you’re looking to fortify yourself for a day of shopping, one local option is the brunch at the on Route 1. The brunch, which went on hiatus from the restaurant for a good portion of the year,  features favorites like omelets as well as Mexican items like carne asada steak and cheese enchiladas.
