Get Out: A Folk Festival, Animals, Concerts and More

Maybe you could take your Mom along for some fun Mother's Day weekend activities?

Looking for some fun activities you and Mom can do together over this upcoming Mother's Day weekend? Lynnfield Patch has got you covered from a Folk Festival to a special day at the zoo geared towards Moms (animal and human).

Why Go: Join the library as they celebrate Mexican-American culture here in the United States during this very festive day. Read some stories about the holiday, do a craft, listen to some songs in Spanish, and enjoy refreshments.

When/Where: , (505 Main St.), Saturday,  8:30am–2:00pm.

Why Go: If you're feeling charitable and want to do a good deed this weekend, head over to the Lynnfield Middle School on Saturday. Join the Precourt Family and Girl Scout troop 60528 who are sponsoring  their 2nd annual blood drive in honor of Carolyn T. Black. Ms. Black died from e coli poisoning from tainted beef - Her family got to spend an extra 3 weeks with her family thanks to the Red Cross. What are you waiting for? Help the Red Cross, help others, and possibly save someone's life.

When/Where: Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Sq, Salem, MA. Saturday, 12:00pm–7:00pm.

Why Go: Want to catch some live folk music this weekend? Get to Salem and hit the jackpot. The North Shore Folk Festival is this weekend, featuring special performances by Mike and Ruthy, Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards, The Willows, Avi Jacob, Adam Rothenberg, Thea Hopkins, Delvis, Doug Kwartler, Maggie Mackay,  Outrageous Fortune, US Sam (Master of Ceremonies) and Poet George Jack.

Pricing: Tickets $10 (online) $15 (day of).

Where/When: , (45 Temple St, Reading) Saturday, 7:30pm–9:30pm.

Why Go: You won't want to miss the 91st spring performance by the Reading Community Singers, a 70-plus member group. They are in the running for the title of longest, continually performing amateur choral group in the country. All you Need is Love - Music from the Heartland is packed with audience favorites Mom will love! 

Pricing: $18.00 for adults and $12.00 for seniors and students.

Where/When:Stone Zoo, (149 Pond St, Stoneham), Sunday, 10:00am-6:00pm.

Why Go:Come to the zoo for a perfect way to celebrate Mom (and celebrity animal moms) at the Franklin Park and Stone Zoos on Sunday with free admission for all mothers throughout the day and goodie bags for the first 100 moms. Both Zoos will also be honoring their celebrity animal moms including gorilla Kiki with her 5-month-old baby Kambiri at Franklin Park Zoo, and emperor tamarin Snoopy and her baby named Wally at Stone Zoo.

Pricing: Free Admission for all mothers, $13.00 for adults; $11.00 for seniors; $9.00 for children (2-12); Children under 2 are free.
