Cystic Fibrosis Walk set for coming weekend on the common.

Today is Monday, May 16. Here are five things you need to know:

Town Business: At 7 p.m., there is a finance committee meeting at town hall. Tomorrow, there is a board of health meeting at 5:30 p.m.

LHS Sports Action: The girls varsity and junior varsity softball teams are both playing Amesbury High School at home at 3:45 p.m. Also at that time, the boys varsity team plays at home against Newburyport while the boys varsity tennis team has a home match against Malden Catholic. Later, the girls junior varsity lacrosse team has a road game against Manchester Essex at 5 p.m., while the varsity team plays at 7 p.m.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk: Next Sunday, the Great Strides Walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis will be held starting at the Lynnfield Common at 10 a.m. Those interested in participating or making a donation can call Anne at 617-974-7805. For more information, click here.

Lynnfield Art Guild: Also next weekend, the Lynnfield Art Guild holds its annual spring judged show and sale. The event runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Old Meeting House. There is also a reception for the artists Friday night at the meeting house from 7-9 p.m. that is open to the public.

Emergency Message System: The Lynnfield Police Department recently announced that it is exploring alternatives to its Nixle messaging account, including reverse 911, in light of recent changes to its charging policies. Until then, the department will only be sending out emergency messages on its Nixle account.
