Library has 3:45 p.m. party for the kids to mark "Talk Like A Pirate" day.

Today is Monday, September 19th. Here are five things you need to know.

Talk Like A Pirate Day: Today at 3:45 p.m., the library is having a party for the kids in observation of Talk Like A Pirate Day. Stories, a craft and a snack arrrr-gh on the agenda.

Chili Cookoff: This Wednesday, Sept. 21, a chili cookoff is planned at Sunrise of Lynnfield on Salem Street at 3 p.m. $5 to enter or to taste the chili. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimers Association's Walk to End Alzheimers. Call 781-245-0668 to enter.

SEPAC Meeting: This Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisor Council meets at the from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dr. Thomas Jefferson, superintendent of Lynnfield schools, is expected to attend. For more information, call the Special Services Office at 781-581-5140.

Pioneer Sports: Today at 3:45 p.m. the boys varisty soccer team plays at Hamilton-Wenham, while the girls varsity soccer team plays that opponent in a home game, also at 3:45 p.m. The junior varsity teams also play at 3:45 p.m. Also, the JV football team is at Amesbury for a 3:30 p.m. game, the girls varsity field hockey team has a home game against Ipswich, and the junior varsity teams play at 5:15 p.m.

Lynnfield 911: Yesterday, volunteers removed the flag exhibit from the lawn across the street from the town common. The exhibit was set up on Sunday, Sept. 4 in preparation for the town's 9/11 memorial. Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Lynnfield Fire Headquarters, the Lynnfield 911 Committee has its wrapup meeting.
