Five Things You Need To Know: October 19

LHS Fall Choral Concert is tonight at 7 p.m.

Today is Wednesday, October 19th. Here are five things you need to know:

Fall Choral Concert Tonight: The Music Department will hold its annual Fall Choral Concert tonight at 7 p.m.  Groups performing under the direction of High School Choral Director Douglas Hodgkins will include the Lynnfield High School Concert Choir, the Lynnfield High School Women’s Chorus, and the Chamber Singers.  Three a cappella groups, the AcaBellas, the AcaFellas and the Harmonix, all coached by Mr. Hodgkins, are also expected to perform.  A new feature in this year’s concert will be a performance by the newly formed Lynnfield Community Schools Jazz Choir, which includes Lynnfield students in grades 5 through 12 directed by Douglas Hodgkins. The concert will be held in the High School Auditorium and is free and open to the public. 

SEPAC Meeting: The next meeting of the Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council is Wednesday, October 19th from 7-9 p.m. at the Reading Senior Center on 49 Pleasant Street in Reading. This will be a joint meeting with the Reading SEPAC featuring a workshop on basic rights in special education.

Pioneer Sports: Today at 3:45 p.m., the cross country team has a home meet against Triton. Also at 3:45 p.m., the boys varsity  and JV soccer teams are at home against Hamilton-Wenham, while the girls teams have away games against that opponent, also at 3:45 p.m. The girls varsity field hockey team plays Manchester Essex on the road at 3:45 p.m. (junior varsity game at 5:15 p.m.), and the girls varsity volleyball team is at home against Masco at 4 p.m. (JV game at 5:30 p.m.) 

Dinosaur Party: Today at 6:30 p.m at the , bring the kids by to see Paulette Morin do her “Having Fun With Fossils and Dinosaurs” presentation, featuring dozens of fossils to check out. Geared towards preschool through 4th grade, advance registration is requested by calling Laura at 781-334-5411.

Town business: The Recreation Commission meets at 6 p.m. in the selectmen's room at town hall.
