Five Things You Need To Know: Oct. 3

Order a "Fight Like A Girl" t-shirt from the Countryside Deli to fight breast cancer and benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Today is Wednesday, October 3. Here are five things you need to know.

Breast Cancer T-Shirts:  Mike DiCorato, owner of the Countryside Deli, has announced that they have designed “Fight Like A Girl” t-shirts to help fight breast cancer. DiCorato’s wife Lisa is a survivor. The shirts are $15 and proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. To order a shirt, call 781-245-2160, or just stop by the Countryside Deli, where the shirts will be in on Friday.

Calling All Book Lovers: Next Thursday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Library’s BookLovers Group meets on the mezzanine. Join Library Director Nancy Ryan for a discussion of this month’s selection, “Catherine The Great: Portrait Of A Woman,” by Robert K. Massie.

Speaking Of Books: This Saturday, October 20th, there are two different book sale events scheduled in town. The Friends of the Library Book Sale is at the Old Meeting House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. And, Huckleberry Hill Elementary School has its annual pancake breakfast, pumpkin decorating event and used book sale that same morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. I advise starting off with some pancakes.

Lynnfield SEPAC Meeting: The next meeting of the Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council is two weeks from tonight, on Wednesday, October 17 at 7 p.m. This meeting will feature a parent workshop on effectively managing behaviors at home. The workshop will be led by Lynnfield teachers Jen Hogan Caley and Alyssa Dulski.

Local Weather: The local weather forecast remains mixed at best for this week and heading into the holiday weekend. The rest of the week calls for scattered showers and some occasional fog between now and the weekend. For those who are off on Columbus Day, so far it’s looking like a sunny day with highs near 60.
