Today is Thursday, Nov. 8. Here are five things you need to know.

MIAA Tournament: The LHS volleyball team plays a semifinal road game against Shawsheen this  evening at 7 p.m.  The winner goes on to the North Division 3 final game on Saturday in Lawrence.

A Note From The Town: The Town of Lynnfield will hold its traditional Veterans Day observance at 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 on the common.  Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Robert P. MacKendrick will deliver the address. A brunch will follow in the Meeting House on the common, where ceremonies will be held in the case of inclement weather. Participants are asked to gather on the common at 10:45 a.m. so the ceremonies may begin promptly at 11 a.m.

Gingerbread Houses: Lynnfield Community Schools has announced a Gingerbread House Construction class on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The price is $35. Call LCS at 781-334-5814 to register.

A Note From Sunrise Senior Living: Sunrise of Lynnfield, on 55 Salem Street, just over the Wakefield line, is having a Diet and Brain Health presentation this Thursday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m.  A local nutritionist will discuss foods that help prevent memory loss, with some dishes provided by chefs from area Sunrise facilities. Coffee House: Tomorrow night, the Lynnfield Community Church at 735 Salem Street presents its first coffee house event, featuring folk and alternative music singer Don Hammontree. Entrance is free, all by donation. Doors open 7:30 p.m. Looking ahead, LCC’s coffee house events will be on the second and fourth Fridays of the month.
