Last day of school this year in Lynnfield is June 14.

Today is Thursday, May 3. Here are five things you need to know.

Lynnfield Schools: Earlier this week at the school committee meeting, members approved Thursday, June 14 as the last day of the school year. Last year, students had to wait until June 21 to start their summer vacation as a result of a far snowier winter.

Speaking of Lynnfield schools, congratulations to Lynnfield Middle School Vice Principal Adam Federico for his new position as principal at the Holten-Richmond Middle School in Danvers. Also, congratulations to Michaelann Herook for her new position as director of Lynnfield Community Schools.

Mother’s Day Pajama Party: Next Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Library hosts a Mother’s Day Pajama Party featuring stories about moms (and grandmothers) plus card-making. Bring the kids in their pajamas. Refreshments will be served.

Pioneer Sports: Today at 3:30 p.m., the girls varsity tennis team is playing at Swampscott. At 3:45 p.m., the varsity and JV baseball teams are both playing at Newburyport, while the girls varsity and JV softball teams also play road games against Manchester Essex at that time.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk: This Sunday May 20 at 11 a.m. on the Lynnfield Common, stop by and show support for the Great Strides 5 mile walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis. In Lynnfield, many walkers will be out in support of Joey Distefano. Pioneer Singers: The next stop for the Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer Singers is Gillette Stadium this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when the New England Revolution play the Vancouver Whitecaps.
