Five Things You Need To Know: May 15

Busy weekend coming up in the Lynnfield area.

Today is Tuesday, May 15. Here are five things you need to know.

Friends Of The Senior Center: The Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center hold their annual All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 19 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the on Salem Street in Lynnfield. The cost is $5, but tickets will not be sold the day of the breakfast. Instead, pick them up in advance at the front desk of the Senior Center.

Art Show: This Saturday will feature the town’s annual Geraniumfest celebration on the Town Common – but don’t forget to go across the street to the Centre Congregational Church to check out the Lynnfield Art Guild’s annual judged show, featuring the work of numerous local artists.  The exhibit runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday night, May 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. there is a reception for the artists that is also open to the public.

PAWS 4 A Cure: Another thing going on this weekend is the 5th annual PAWS 4 A Cure Walk, Sunday, May 20 at 1 p.m. around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. The organization helps raise money for cat and dog owners facing difficulty with veterinary bills. For more information about the organization, visit their website here.

Parents' Workshop: Coming up next Thursday, May 24, the Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council presents a free workshop for all parents at at 7 p.m.  focusing on “Practical Executive Function Strategies for Home and School.”

LHS Sports: Today on the Pioneers’ sports calendar, there’s a 3:30 p.m. track meet at LHS against North Reading. Also at 3:30 p.m., the girls varsity tennis team plays Ipswich at home, while the boys team plays on the road against Ipswich.  At 3:45 p.m., the varsity and JV baseball teams are at Hamilton Wenham. Also at 3:45 p.m., the girls varsity and JV softball teams are at Manchester Essex. At 4 p.m., the boys varsity and JV lacrosse teams both play at North Reading.
