LHS boys basketball has MIAA tournament bid ended with loss to Pope John.

Today is Wednesday, March 7. Here are five things you need to know.

MIAA Tournament: The LHS basketball team, a #7 tournament seed, lost to #3 seed Pope John 57-54 in an MIAA North Division 4 semifinal game on Tuesday evening in Chelsea. Pope John now goes on to play St. Mary’s in the division final game Friday night at Emmanuel College.

Author Event: On Friday, March 16 between 5 and 8 p.m., drop by and meet Beth Aldrich, author of "Real Moms Love To Eat."

The Portuguese Table: If you enjoy the cuisines of the world, you won’t want to miss the next Curious About Cuisine meeting at the library on Wednesday, March 14 at 3 p.m. Group members will welcome local author Ana Ortins for a presentation on Portuguese cuisine. Kindergarten Parents Orientation: Lynnfield parents of all incoming kindergarten students for fall 2012 are invited to attend an Orientation Night on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7 p.m. at . Please note screening appointments will be held during the week of April 2 for Huckleberry Hill School and the week of April 24 for .  Parents new to Lynnfield who did not receive a written invitation to the above Orientation should contact their respective school ASAP to assure receipt of a registration packet and screening appointment for their child.  Children who hope to attend kindergarten this fall must be 5 years old by September 1, 2012.  Any questions should be directed to Linda LaGreca (HHS) at 781-334-5835 or email lagrecal@lynnfield.k12.ma.us or Lori Murphy (SSS) at 781-334-5830 or email murphylo@lynnfield.k12.ma.us.
