Five Things You Need To Know: March 31

Spring sports scrimmages underway, pancake breakfast for senior center next weekend.

Today is Thursday, March 31. Here are five things you need to know:

New Play Group Starts Tomorrow: On Friday, the begins a new baby play group for ages up to 24 months from 9:30-10:30 a.m. No registration is required; parents and caregivers are welcome to drop in.

Spring Sports Scrimmages: The spring sports season is getting underway. Today, the boys varsity baseball team has a scrimmage at home against Everett High School, while the girls varsity lacrosse team scrimmages North Reading at 3:45 p.m. in that town.

Special Education Parents Advisory Council: The Lynnfield Parents Advisory Councl wants to welcome all school-age parents to the Special Education Parent Advisory Council  (PAC). Their next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the , 525 Salem Street. The meeting will provide an opportunity to meet and greet Kara Mauro, the newly appointed Interim Director of Special Services.   After a brief introduction by Superintendent Hassett, Ms. Mauro will answer parent questions.  For more information, call 781-581-5140.

You Want Some Pancakes? On Saturday April 9 from 8-10 a.m., there will be an all you can eat pancake breakfast at the to raise funds for the Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center. The cost is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the senior center.

Yard Waste: The town DPW has announced that the Yard Waste Collection Center located behind the Town Hall will be open to Lynnfield residents only, who have current recycling stickers, beginning Saturday, April 2nd. The Center will open each week until November 30 on Wednesdays and Saturdays only from 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day to accept brush, tree limbs, grass clippings and leaves.
