Five Things You Need To Know: March 12

Lynnfield Middle School kicks off annual Wellness Week activities today. Variety of activities in town scheduled throughout this week.

Today is Monday, March 12. Here are five things you need to know.

Wellness Week: Throughout the week, students at Lynnfield Middle School will participate in various activities to mark the annual Wellness Week. Activities will range from Monday’s Crazy Sock Day to “Sock it to poor choices” to a martial arts demonstration, bouncy house obstacle course, and wellness fair later in the week.

Art In Bloom: Tonight, the opens the annual Art In Bloom exhibit with an informal talk and tour of the artworks from 7:30 to 9 p.m.  The work by local artists will be on display throughout the week.

Music In Our Schools: Next Tuesday, the Lynnfield Public Schools music departments present the annual Music In Our Schools Month concert at 6:30 p.m. at the LHS gym. The concert features choral performance groups from grades 4 through 12, plus bands in grades 6 through 12.

Kindergarten Parents Orientation: Lynnfield parents of all incoming kindergarten students for fall 2012 are invited to attend an Orientation Night on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7 p.m. at . Please note screening appointments will be held during the week of April 2 for Huckleberry Hill School and the week of April 24 for .  Parents new to Lynnfield who did not receive a written invitation to the above Orientation should contact their respective school ASAP to assure receipt of a registration packet and screening appointment for their child.  Children who hope to attend kindergarten this fall must be 5 years old by September 1, 2012.  Any questions should be directed to Linda LaGreca (HHS) at 781-334-5835 or email lagrecal@lynnfield.k12.ma.us or Lori Murphy (SSS) at 781-334-5830 or email murphylo@lynnfield.k12.ma.us.

Oil Painting Demo: The next meeting of the Lynnfield Art Guild is Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at the . Westford-based artist Kathy Cooper will give an oil painting demonstration.
