Five Things You Need To Know: June 8

LHS baseball team headed to division final in Lowell tomorrow. Vintage fire truck parade, LHS band car wash also among this weekend's events.

Today is Friday, June 8. Here are some things you need to know.

LHS Baseball: Congratulations to the LHS baseball team on their 6-5 victory over Bishop Fenwick Thursday in the MIAA Division 3 North semifinal game. Up next, the Pioneers take on rival North Reading for the Division 3 North championship Saturday at 4 p.m. at LeLacheur Park in Lowell.

Fire Truck Parade: This Saturday is the annual vintage fire truck parade, which leaves Lynnfield High School at 10 a.m.  The parade makes its way to Edgewater Office Park in Wakefield, where there will also be a flea market. To check out photos from last year’s parade, .

LHS Band Car Wash: This Saturday morning, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church parking lot for a car wash fundraiser to benefit the Lynnfield High School band program. The church is at 127 Summer Street and the car wash is $10.

Rock For Dads: , Lynnfield resident Steven Connolly is organizing the second Rock For Dads event at the Wakefield Elks Club this Saturday, June 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. The event features two rock bands, raffles, auction items and more. Tickets are $20 and proceeds go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Notice From The Rec. Commission: The Lynnfield Recreation Commission is pleased to announce that all families that applied for our 2012 Summer Recreation Program were accepted!  We are excited that we filled our program without having to turn anyone away and look forward to another Great Summer Recreation Program!

Library Hours: With summer rapidly approaching, it’s worth noting that the Lynnfield Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays during the summer months. After Labor Day, its Saturday hours will return to 9 to 5 p.m. On regular weekdays, the library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. And speaking of summertime at the library, next Friday, June 22 at noon, bring the kids by its annual summer reading kickoff party.
