Five Things You Need To Know: June 7

LHS baseball plays division semifinal game today in Lowell. Free junior golf clinic this afternoon at Reedy Meadow.

Today is Thursday, June 7. Here are five things you need to know.

MIAA Tournament: The LHS baseball team has an MIAA semifinal game against Bishop Fenwick today at 5 p.m. – but it’s at Alumni Field in Lowell of all places.  The winner is going to play either Saugus or North Reading Saturday at 4 p.m. at LeLacheur Park in Lowell.

In other MIAA tournament news, the girls tennis team was eliminated Wednesday by Bedford, 4-1, in a match at LHS. Bedford now moves on to play Ipswich in the North Division 3 final game.

Junior Golf Clinic: The Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts (WGAM) in conjunction with The First Tee, the MGA, and will be holding a free Junior Golf Clinic today at Reedy Meadow Golf Course.  This free clinic will run from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and is geared towards boys and girls ages 5-18.  Snacks are provided along with instruction.

Classic Car Show: This is a good month to be a vintage vehicle enthusiast in Lynnfield. Along with Saturday morning’s vintage fire truck parade, on Tuesday, June 26 the holds its annual classic car show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will also feature oldies music, a hot dog lunch for $2, and a cookie sale and cake bingo to raise funds for the Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center.

SOFA Program: With summer vacation right around the corner, it’s almost time for Lynnfield Community Schools’ Summer Of Fun Activities program. The program runs week by week through much of the summer and features a very wide variety of fun activities for the kids, from arts to sports and much more. Golf And Tennis: As noted yesterday, the Lynnfield Rotary Club has added a tennis option to its annual golf outing, which is on Friday, June 22. The golf is at Reedy Meadow and the tennis is at the Middle School.
