Five Things You Need To Know: June 5

Three MIAA tournament games scheduled for today at LHS following yesterday's rainouts.

Today is Tuesday, June 5. Here are five or so things you need to know:

MIAA Tournament Action: With yesterday’s rainouts, the LHS baseball team is now scheduled to play #9 seed St. Mary’s today at 4 p.m. at Lynnfield – weather permitting yet again of course.  The LHS team had the #1 seed heading into the tournament and the winner of this game goes on to play either Watertown or Bishop Fenwick in the semifinal. 

The girls softball team plays in a 3:30 p.m. quarterfinal game against Matignon today at LHS. Matignon is a #16 seed that knocked #1 seed Shawsheen out of the tournament in the first round.  LHS is the #8 seed in the softball tournament and the winner goes on to play either Mystic Valley or Greater Lowell in the semifinal game.

Also, the girls tennis team (#4 seed), plays Lowell Catholic (#5 seed) at 3:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal, also at LHS. The winner plays Bedford in the semifinal game.

LHS Band Car Wash: On Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., members of the Lynnfield High School Band will hold a car wash in the parking lot at , 127 Summer Street.  Come get your car all shiny and support our students in making music together!  All proceeds benefit the LHS band program, helping with the costs of items not covered by the school budget, such as equipment purchases and maintenance.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Fire Truck Parade: This Saturday is the annual vintage fire truck parade, which leaves Lynnfield High School at 10 a.m.  The parade makes its way to Edgewater Office Park in Wakefield, where there will also be a flea market. To check out photos from last year’s parade, .

Ace Bailey Golf Classic: This Monday, June 11, the 11th annual Ace Bailey Golf Classic is at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH with registration and lunch starting at 11 a.m. The event is in honor of the former Boston Bruins player and Lynnfield resident who was killed in the 9/11 attacks. Funds benefit the Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation. To register or to learn more, click here.

Rock For Dads: , Lynnfield resident Steven Connolly is organizing the second Rock For Dads event at the Wakefield Elks Club this Saturday, June 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. The event features two rock bands, raffles, auction items and more. Tickets are $20 and proceeds go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
