Town bids farewell to retiring School Superintendent Robert Hassett. Dr. Thomas Jefferson set to take over next week.

Today is Thursday, June 30, 2011. Here are five things you need to know:

Changing Of The Guard: Next week, the Lynnfield School District will welcome Dr. Thomas Jefferson as its new superintendent. Today, we've got an interview with retiring Superintendent Robert Hassett. .

Book Crossing: The Library is using an online software called Book Crossing that allows people to drop off books in various places and then see if they move around at all. If you're planning a trip in the coming weeks (or even if you're not), the library has some books for children and adults interested in participating in this experiment.

 Mustang Raffle: The Lynnfield-based group Protect Mass. Children, which is working to strengthen laws involving repeat sex offenders, is raising funds by raffling off this 1966 Ford Mustang GT Fastback. State Rep. Clark: A representative from State Rep. Katherine Clark's office will be at town hall Friday at 10 a.m. in the conference room to meet or assist constituents.

Card Games: The Lynnfield Senior Center has mah jong and bridge games on Thursdays from 12:30-2:45 p.m.
