Lowell Spinners: Just a few weeks after their visit to Montreal, the next big gig for the Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer Singers is to sing the National Anthem at the Lowell Spinners game tonight at LeLacheur Park in Lowell. Game time is 7 p.m. The Spinners are a minor league single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. They've only played about eight or nine games in their young season so far.

Connolly Sentence: If anybody missed , today happens to be the day that the Bureau of Federal Prisons expects to release former FBI agent and Lynnfield resident John Connolly from his 121-month prison sentence in North Carolina for helping Whitey Bulger avoid capture. Connolly is apparently on the way to Florida next to serve out the rest of a 40-year 2nd degree murder sentence that also involves tipping off the Bulger gang.
