Today is Friday, June 22. Here are five things you need to know.

Selectmen’s Meeting: The Lynnfield Selectmen have scheduled a meeting for 3 p.m. Monday in the selectmen’s room at town hall.

Summer Reading Kickoff: This Friday, June 22, it's the Lynnfield library’s summer reading kickoff. Bring the kids by the library that day at noon for summer reading signup, and then they get to enjoy a magic show by Scott Jameson at 1 p.m. as well as a free hot dog lunch.

One-Pitch Softball Tournament: Tomorrow is the annual Alexander Peters Memorial One-Pitch Softball Tournament at LHS starting at 8 a.m. For more information about the event, click here.  You can also check out this .

From The Lynnfield Senior Center: Join us on Tuesday, June 26th from 11 -1pm for our annual classic car show. We'll have over 30 cars on display in our front parking lots. After viewing the cars and visiting with the owners, come inside for a Hot Dog Lunch for $2.  We'll have a fun Cake Bingo game going -- bring your quarters and win a cake!  The Friend's will be holding a Cookie Sale. Bring The Kids!!!!  We will be running a shuttle from the Our Lady of the Assumption Church parking lot for overflow parking.

We're Having A Heat Wave: The first heat wave of the summer is winding down, but won’t be quite over until tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service. Today’s highs are expected to be around 90, which will at least be a break from the Thursday temps that were closer to 97. Some possible thunderstorms may move through the area during the night and for Saturday the high is a more temperate 77 degrees.
