Five Things You Need To Know: June 13

Interested in joining a scavenger hunt next month to help raise money for local food pantries?

Today is Wednesday, June 13. Here are five things you need to know.

Scavenger Hunt: Local nonprofit group Gathering Change is having a scavenger hunt at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield on Saturday, July 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hunters’ fee is $20 and participants can assemble their own team of 4 or they can arrive and join a team there. Canines To College Event: Last weekend, North Shore Community College in Lynn held its first Canines to College fundraiser to help raise money for NSCC’s Believe In Lynn Scholarships. The event was emceed by Randy Price of Channel 5, and among the various categories, Lynnfield resident Mary Graham’s dog Amberley, a four year old golden mix, took second place in the “Most Glamorous/Most GQ” category.

LAA Road Race: Each July 4, the Lynnfield Athletic Assocation holds its annual road race, which is an important source of funding for the high school’s sports programs. Runner can register on-site the day of the race starting at 7:30 a.m., or they can register online in advance. .

Disability Placards: The next lunch and lecture event at the Lynnfield Senior Center will focus on disability placards. Michele Ellicks from MassDOT/RMV will talk on Thursday. June 21 at 12:30 p.m. about the rules and regulations of disability placards.  Lunch at 11:30 a.m. is $3. Sign for the talk and for lunch separately.

Classic Car Show: This is a good month to be a vintage vehicle enthusiast in Lynnfield. Along with Saturday morning’s vintage fire truck parade, on Tuesday, June 26 the holds its annual classic car show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will also feature oldies music, a hot dog lunch for $2, and a cookie sale and cake bingo to raise funds for the Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center.
