Today is Tuesday, July 31. Here are five things you need to know.

BKP: Members of the local nonprofit group BKP meet regularly in the basement of the Centre Congregational Church to pack up childrens’ books to be donated to libraries in the Philippines. Check out some new pictures on their website of the kids enjoying the books.

Wireless News: AT&T announced this week that it has expanded its 4G LTE wireless network to now include Lynnfield and a number of other North Shore communities.

2014 Celebration: The Lynnfield Historical Society is selling the distinctive “Old Meeting House” variety of hosta plant to raise some early funds for the town’s 300th anniversary celebration in 2014.  The plants have purple flowers and are $25 each. .

Skype With Children’s Author: On Wednesday, August 15 at 2:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Library has its first-ever virtual author visit with Deb Lund, author of "Dinosauring" and other children's books. The kids will read some of her books together and think of some questions to ask Lund beforehand. Registration required. Call Laura or Pam at 781-334-5411 to sign up.

From The Rec. Commission: The LHS Girls Basketball Team & The Lynnfield Recreation Commission is offering a Summer Slam Basketball program for girls entering Grades 4 -9.  The sessions will take place on August 13, 15, 20 & 22 at the Lynnfield Middle School.
