Five Things You Need To Know: July 13

This weekend - Gathering Change Scavenger Hunt to help local families in need. On Saturday, it's the 28-mile Reid's Ride to help support the fight against cancer in young people.

Today is Friday, July 13. Here are five things you need to know.

Reids Ride: This Sunday, July 15th is the 8th annual Reid’s Ride. Cyclists make the 28-mile ride from Lynnfield High School to Stagefort Park in Gloucester and raise money for children’s cancer research. Your local Patch editor plans to do the ride for the second time this year, and based on last year's numbers, more than 400 others are planning to do it as well. Scavenger Hunt: Local nonprofit group Gathering Change is having a scavenger hunt at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield this Saturday, July 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hunters’ fee is $20 and participants can assemble their own team of 4 or they can arrive and join a team there. Host Families Sought: The Fresh Air Fund is a well-known nonprofit organization that brings children aged 6 to 12  from New York City to stay with host families in small rural towns for one or two weeks during the summer. Blood Drive: On Saturday, July 14 at 9 a.m., the Red Cross is having a blood drive in Lynnfield at Our Lady of the Assumption School.

Topsfield Fair Jobs: The Topsfield Fair has announced that it will hold a job fair on Thursday, July 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Coolidge Hall at the Topsfield Fairgrounds, to hire temporary help for this year’s fair. Openings will include admissions, parking, security, and information booth personnel.
