Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 8

A look at upcoming events and activities in the Lynnfield area.

Today is Tuesday, January 8th. Here are five things you need to know.

Town Business: The School Committee meets tonight at 7 p.m. at a different venue than usual – in the selectmen’s room at town hall.

SEPAC: The Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council holds a presentation on basic rights in special education this Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lynnfield Preschool. All are welcome to attend. The workshop will help participants learn about special education law, the processes involving special education, and what their rights are.

Library Event: This Wednesday, January 9, the Lynnfield Library hosts a Goldilocks and the Three Bears Pajama Party at 6:30 p.m. Bring the kids by to hear the classic story and then to enjoy some “just right” porridge with juice and to do a craft.

LCC Coffeehouse: This Friday, January 11th at 7:45 p.m., the next coffee house at the Lynnfield Community Church features Arnie Rosen and Andrea Hissong., who play folk, jazz and more. Admission is by donation. To learn more, click here.

Energy Efficient Older Homes: Speaking of local library events, also on Wednesday, the Beebe Library on Main Street in Wakefield will offer a program on making your older home more energy efficient while retaining its historical character. Sally Zimmerman, Manager of Historic Preservation Services at Historic New England, will present a historic preservation perspective on insulation, window repair, air sealing, and renewable energy options in the older or historic home.
