Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 6

Library, Tower Day School, Boston Sports Club all have family-friendly events this weekend.

Today is Friday, January 6. Here are five things you need to know.

Tower Day School: On Saturday, Jan. 7 it has an open house for the Tower Day School, on 5 Summer Street. Prospective families are welcome to come and see musician Johnny The K, while also taking a tour of the school and meeting teachers and current parents. Lynnfield Library’s Curious about Cuisine series presents “Around the World on a Loaf of Bread” on Wednesday, January 12, 2012 at 3:00 pm on the Library mezzanine. They will sample a bread called Ciambella Mandoriata from Italy, a Greek Christmas bread called Christopsomo, a Jewish braided egg bread called Challah and lastly, Babka from Eastern Europe. Drop-In Game Day: This Saturday at 3 p.m., bring the family down to the library to enjoy a game of Uno. The library plans to feature a different game or activity for each of its monthly drop-in game days.

LHS Sports: Today’s Pioneer sports action features plenty of basketball. The Boys JV team is at home against Hamilton-Wenham at 5 p.m., while the varsity game is at 6:30 p.m. The girls team is at Hamilton-Wenham, with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Swim Team Fundraiser: As part of their annual fundraiser, LHS swim team members can come and pick up your Christmas tree. Pick up dates are on the weekends of Jan. 7-8 and 14-15. Call Amy at 781-334-7018 to make arrangements. $10 donation for trees under 8 feet ($15 for over), all proceeds benefit the LHS swim team.

Kids Get Active: Finally, another family-friendly weekend event in town is Saturday at Boston Sports Club from 12-2 p.m. Staff will host energizing classes for kids and will provide information on keeping families fit and active.
