Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 20

Info session is Feb. 2 for parents of incoming preschool children with an identified or suspected disability.

Today is Friday, Jan. 20. Here are five things you need to know.

Preschool Special Needs Screening Info: This Thursday, Feb. 2 from 7 to 8 p.m., parents of incoming preschool children identified with a disability – or those who suspect that their child may have a disability – are invited to an information session at the office of special services on 525 Salem Street. Preschool screening will be held by appointment only on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Call Camille Ernest at 781-581-5140 or email ernestc@lynnfield.k12.ma.us to schedule an appointment.

Benefit Hockey Game: Tickets are now on sale for an April 1 benefit game at Stoneham Arena featuring Boston Bruins alumni against the Ninety-Nine Restaurants “Ninety Nine Legends” team. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lynn and Stoneham. Corporate sponsors are also being sought for the event. Mall Guru Blog: Last month, this website ran an , a Lynnfield resident who writes the Natick Mall Guru Blog. She has been providing regular updates to the blog – check some of them out here.

LHS Sports: At 4:30 p.m., the wrestling team has a home meet against North Andover. The basketball teams are playing Georgetown. The boys are playing on the road, with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m. The girls are playing at home, with the JV game also at 5 p.m. with the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

K-9 Demo: Next month, the Lynnfield Senior Center holds a K-9 demonstration with personnel from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. The free demo is on Friday, Feb. 10 at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast is $3, is served at 8 a.m. that morning, and requires advance registration at the front desk.
