Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 16

A look at what's coming up in and around Lynnfield.

Today is Wednesday, January 16th. Here are five things you need to know.

Weather: Be careful with this morning’s commute. The National Weather Service forecasts 1 or 2 inches of snow for the Boston area before 3 p.m. today, with some more rain or snow expected after 5 p.m. Thursday forecast calls for the more typical non-winter weather we get these days – sunny with a high near 38.

Lego Night: Bring the kids (aged 6 and up) by the Lynnfield Library tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. for Lego Night. Just drop in – the library provides the Legos. Light refreshments served.

Sweet Jazz: On Sunday, February 10th at 2 p.m., the Lynnfield High School jazz ensembles and the youth jazz band present an Afternoon Of Sweet Jazz. $10 admission fee includes a dessert buffet and helps fund the LHS music program. $8 admission for students and seniors.

SEPAC: The Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council holds a presentation on basic rights in special education this Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lynnfield Preschool. All are welcome to attend. The workshop will help participants learn about special education law, the processes involving special education, and what their rights are.

Gathering Change: Today, Whole Foods in Swampscott will donate 5% of your pre-tax purchase to Gathering Change, Inc. This Lynnfield-based nonprofit group gathers donated pocket change at various events to help support North Shore food pantries.
