Five Things You Need To Know: Feb. 7

Need a babysitter this Saturday night? This might be your chance to help some local girl scouts with their fundraiser and head out for the night.

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 7. Here are five things you need to know.

Babysitting Fundraiser: Lynnfield 9th grade Senior Girl Scout Troop 60452 is holding a Kid’s Night Out Babysitting fundraiser at the Congregational Church Basement on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 6 to 9 pm, where parents can enjoy a valentine dinner out or catch a movie, while the girls watch the kids by showing them a movie, doing a valentine craft and feeding them a pizza dinner.  Open to children aged 3-10.  The cost is $15 per child, $25 per 2 siblings, and $30 for three or more siblings.  Interested parents should contact Laura Dillon at 781 334 6890 or dillon.lb@verizon.net to sign up.   The girls are fundraising for an educational troop trip.

FOLL Book Sale: On May 19, the Friends of the will hold their annual book sale during the town’s Geraniumfest celebration. While that event is still some distance away, the group has begun accepting donations of books, DVDs and music CDs.  Donations may be left at the library circulation desk, or you can call call FOLL Board Member Alexis Gilbode at 781-608-4179 to arrange to have the donation picked up at your home and for a receipt to be provided.

LHS Coffee House: The Music Department will hold the next Coffee House in its popular series on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.  The Coffee House will be held in the high school cafeteria.  Admission is $5 and includes refreshments provided by Music Department students.  Proceeds from the event will be used to support Lynnfield High School Music Department programs.  The Music Department encourages all members of the Lynnfield community to attend this event and enjoy a refreshing evening showcasing some of Lynnfield’s brightest talent.

Gathering Change Notecards: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, one idea for a quick gift that helps support a local charity is notecards from Gathering Change, Inc. The group uses donations of change from area residents to help support local food pantries. A set of 16 blank notecards is $10, plus $3.50 shipping and handling. All you do is make a donation of $13.50 at this link with the designation “notecards.”
