Town Business: The selectmen’s meeting is Monday, February 11th at 7 p.m. at town hall. The school committee meets Tuesday, February 12th at 7 p.m., also in the selectmen’s room at town hall.
Local nonprofit group BKP, which sends donated children’s books to libraries in the Philippines, reports that it could use some gently used elementary and preschool level storybooks. To donate books, contact Liz Freeman at781-246-2836, LindenTree85@comcast.net. In addition, monetary donations are always appreciated, as is any kind of help from new volunteers. The group meets most second and fourth Saturdays of each month during the school year in the Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield for book-packing and has fundraising activities throughout the year. Their next scheduled book packing sessions are in the Centre Congregational Church basement in Lynnfield on Sat. Feb. 9th and March 9th at 9:30 am
Dog Licenses: The town has announced that the period for getting a 2013 dog license ends on February 28th. You can get a renewal form here on the town website.
Valentine’s Day Concert: So what are you doing on Valentine’s Day? One local idea is that “Rags to Riches” concert in downtown Wakefield on February 14th, featuring the New England Tenors. Tickets are $30. Click here for more information.
New Play Coming Up: The Quannapowitt Players are putting on a new play by Dustin Lance Black, “8,” which focuses on the legal battle over California’s Proposition 8 same-sex marriage ban.
