Today is Monday, February 4th. Here are five things you need to know.

Chinese New Year: Looking ahead to next week, they’re having a Chinese New Year party for the kids at the Lynnfield Library on Friday, February 8 at 3:30 p.m. Librarians will read stories about the Chinese zodiac, listen to some Chinese music, and do a snake craft for the new Year of the Snake. All ages welcome and no registration required.

Town Election: Interested in running for town office in Lynnfield? You’ve got until February 15th to take out papers from the town clerk’s office and you’ve got until February 19th to return them.

Lynnfield Athletic Association: You can help support the Lynnfield Athletic Association while trying out a new fitness routine. Dina Whalen, LHS grad and owner of Fitness Together Lynnfield, has donated $20,000 in gift cards to help raise funds for an organization that plays an important role for the high school sports programs.  $25 donation gets $100 in services from Fitness Together. Boston Children's Hospital Fundraiser: Local resident Tracy Ellsworth is raising money for Boston Children’s Hospital this spring by running in the Boston Marathon and also with an upcoming comedy night fundraiser at Giggles (in Prince Restaurant) on Route 1 in Saugus. Tickets are $20, the night features three comedians, and unlimited pizza. Proceeds benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. Click here for more information.

The Lynnfield Democratic Committee holds its caucus this Saturday, February 9th at the selectmen’s office at town hall. The caucus will select delegates for the 2013 state convention.
