Five Things You Need To Know: Feb. 3

Today is Friday, Feb. 3. Here are five things you need to know.

Local Nonprofit Group: Last month, many of you may have seen this article about the local nonprofit group BKP, which sends children’s books to libraries all over the Philippines.  Group members will be packing up their next shipment of books next Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Centre Congregational Church. They welcome donations and new volunteers. Also,  the group is helping to raise money for victims of a recent typhoon in the Philippines, with a March 9 benefit concert at The Loft at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square, Cambridge. Tickets are $20, and $10 for students. 

LHS Sports: Today at 3:30 p.m., the JV track team is in Ipswich at the Cape Ann League Open. The boys basketball team is in Ipswich, with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m. The girls are playing Ipswich at home, with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, there varsity wrestling team is in the Division III North Sectional Tournament at Triton, while on Sunday morning, the swim team has a 9 a.m. league meet at Salem State.

“Annie” Show: This weekend at , Lynnfield Community Schools presents Showtimes are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets ($10 for adults, $8 for students/seniors) are available at the door or can be purchased in advance by emailing lynnfieldtheater@gmail.com

Talk With Tom: The second “Talk With Tom” event for parents to meet and speak with Lynnfield Superintendent of Schools Dr. Thomas Jefferson is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3 at 9:15 a.m. at .

Katherine Clark: Also this morning, State Senator Katherine Clark or a member of her staff has a constituent service hour starting at 10 a.m. in the conference room at town hall.

Library Activities: The will be an active place this Saturday. At 10 a.m., bring the kids to a family story time – this month’s theme is “The silly and the serious (but mostly silly!). Also at noon Saturday, the library’s Teen Brunch Book Club meets, and from 3 to 4 p.m., it’s Drop-In Game Day.
