Today is Wednesday, Feb. 29. Here are five things you need to know.

Dave the Potter:
In recognition of Black History Month, today at 3:45 p.m., the hosts a reading from “Dave The Potter,” the Caldecott-award winning novel by Laban Carrick Hill.

SEPAC Workshop:
The Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council will be hosting a workshop for parents and professionals on Wednesday, March 21st from 7 - 9 at the Lynnfield Preschool, 525 Salem Street. The theme of the workshop is “An IEP For My Child,” focusing on the individual education programs that a child must have to receive special education services.  For more information, please contact co-chairs Terri Farrell or Elaine Gravante through the Special Services Office at 781-581-5140.

LHS Playoff Action:
The Lynnfield High School hockey team defeat St. Bernard’s 5-1 in Tuesday night’s game. Up next, they play Wilmington on Friday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Stoneham.  Tonight at 7 p.m., the Lynnfield girls basketball players are in Stoneham for a first round MIAA tournament game against that school.  And tomorrow night, the boys basketball team plays North Shore Tech. In a home game at LHS at 7 p.m.

BKP Family Day: On Sunday, March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m., stop by the Centre Congregational Church for a family day put on by local nonprofit group BKP featuring games such as Scrabble, Chinese Checkers and Monopoly, plus prizes and food. BKP gathers books for children and teens and donates them to libraries in poor communities in the Philippines. There is no charge to attend family day, but please RSVP by email to bkp@bkpinc.org.

Hockey Fundraiser Game: On April 1, the Boston Bruins Alumni Team takes on the Ninety-Nine Legends team at Stoneham Arena in a 6:30 p.m. game that will raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn and Stoneham.  The goal is to raise $35,000 to help build a new technology center at the Lynn club, and to renovate the kitchen facilities at the Stoneham club.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children.
