Five Things You Need To Know: Feb. 19

A look at upcoming events in and around Lynnfield.

Today is Tuesday, February 19th. Here are five things you need to know.

There’s a bowl-a-thon coming up in May to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham and Wakefield. There’s plenty of time to get involved with the event, which takes place at the Wakefield Bowladrome on Sunday, May 19th. Click here for full information.

Lecture Series: Tomorrow night (Wednesday), a free lecture series commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Americal Civic Center gets underway. John Wall will give a presentation on “The Remarkable Cyrus Wakefield” starting at 7 p.m. Other lectures continue through the spring. Click here for more information.

Historical Society: On February 19th at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Meeting House in Lynnfield Center, the Lynnfield Historical Society welcomes  author/journalist Stephanie Schorow for a talk on the Coconut Grove fire, which killed 492 people in Boston in 1942 and which influences law and other areas to this day.

Lego Night: Later this week, the Lynnfield Library has a Lego night Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.  Geared to kids ages 6 and up, the library supplies the Legos.

From the Lynnfield Senior Center -Michelle Caron from the American Society of Legal Nurse Consultants will lead an interactive discussion that centers around sexuality, closeness and the need to be involved with others. She will also review how diabetes, hypertension, medications and other stressors come into play. Tues. March 5th at 12:30. Free. Please sign up. Lunch will be served at 11:30 for $2.00/$3.00. You must sign up for lunch by noon the day before. Sign up separately for the lunch and the lecture.
