Today is Wednesday, Feb. 15. Here are five things you need to know.

Chowder Fundraiser: A big fundraiser for the Friends of the is coming up at the end of this month. On Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m., it's the Friends Chowder Fundraiser. Tickets available in advance at the front desk for just $7.

FOLL Book Sale: On May 19, the Friends of the will hold their annual book sale during the town’s Geraniumfest celebration. While that event is still some distance away, the group has begun accepting donations of books, DVDs and music CDs.  Donations may be left at the library circulation desk, or you can call call FOLL Board Member Alexis Gilbode at 781-608-4179 to arrange to have the donation picked up at your home and for a receipt to be provided.

Heart Healthy: Speaking of upcoming events at the Lynnfield Senior Center, one of the next ones is on Thursday, Feb. 23, with a 12:30 p.m. lecture on heart health and diet, stress, exercise and heart disease. Speaker is Nancy D'Amore from Home Health Foundation. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. for $2. Sign up for lunch by noon the day before, and sign up separately for lecture.

Teen Dance: This Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., local nonprofit pet adoption group PAWS is holding a Valentine's dance for teenagers aged 14 and up at 467 Main Street in Wakefield. Tickets are $10 and admission includes a raffle for a $25 iTunes gift card.

Kindergarten Parents Orientation: Lynnfield parents of all incoming kindergarten students for fall 2012 are invited to attend an Orientation Night on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7 p.m. at . Please note screening appointments will be held during the week of April 2 for Huckleberry Hill School and the week of April 24 for .  Parents new to Lynnfield who did not receive a written invitation to the above Orientation should contact their respective school ASAP to assure receipt of a registration packet and screening appointment for their child.  Children who hope to attend kindergarten this fall must be 5 years old by September 1, 2012.  Any questions should be directed to Linda LaGreca (HHS) at 781-334-5835 or email lagrecal@lynnfield.k12.ma.us or Lori Murphy (SSS) at 781-334-5830 or email murphylo@lynnfield.k12.ma.us.
