Today is Friday, December 21. Here are five things you need to know.

Gathering Change: Local nonprofit Gathering Change is at Barnes and Noble in Burlington this Saturday from 1 to 11 p.m. wrapping presents to help support local hunger relief efforts. The group collects spare change to provide to local food pantries.

Lynnfield Youth Lacrosse: Registration is open until January 2 for Lynnfield Youth Lacrosse. Fee is $195 and games are on Sundays during the springtime. Open to boys in grades 1 through 8.  To learn more or to register, click here.

Civil War Christmas: Coming up on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Standing Room Only Concert Series present “A Civil War Christmas” featuring various performers doing selections from this crucial time in American history. Click here for more information

Winter Solstice: Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street in Wakefield – drop in for the church’s Winter Solstice Bicentennial celebration, featuring music, readings and more. Click here for more information.

Library Holiday Hours: The Lynnfield Library closes at 1 p.m. on Monday for Christmas and will be closed on Tuesday. The week after, the library closes at 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and is closed on Tuesday, January 1.
